It's starting to look like Asus launched the revolution that Nicholas Negroponte had meant to start with his OLPC project. By introducing a low cost, mini-notebook that everyone and their 7-year old kid seems to want, Asus has paved the way for a ton of other major computer manufacturers to pile on.

The latest rumor is that Acer will introduce low-cost laptops with 8 and 9 inch displays by this summer. The product would be aimed directly at the Eee PC and the goal is to price the Acer computers competitively with the Eee PC, Everex Cloudbook, and other PCs competing in this space.
